DEHRADUN: Former Chhattisgarh chief minister and BJP MLA Bhagat Singh Koshiyari was elected to the Rajya Sabha on Friday. The opposition Congress and BSP MLAs abstained from voting.
Koshiyari got 42 votes. The independent candidate, Manish Verma, drew a blank.
The BJP, UKD and independent MLAs voted for Koshyari. BJP has 36 elected MLAs in the 70-member house.
The party is also supported by 3 UKD members and 3 independents.
